Water Damage Restoration in the Milwaukee and Sheboygan areas

Wisconsin depends on Kelmann for water damage restoration and recovery.

It’s hard to deny: Wisconsin is a wet place. Springtime brings in heavy showers and summer is usually hot and sticky. Winter is even wetter with hail, freezing rain, and snow. In Southeastern and East Central Wisconsin, the counties of Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha receive the most precipitation annually, with an average of around 120 days of rain and snow. Due to the amount of ambient water in the air and on the ground, residential and commercial properties are at risk for water damage year-round. If left untreated and unattended, seemingly benign water can lead to costly damage. Luckily, Kelmann provides best-in-class water damage restoration services to the greater Milwaukee and Sheboygan areas.

Kelmann Restoration has a long history of water damage repair. For nearly 50 years, our team of experts has restored commercial and residential properties. Our aim is to complete each project in a time-efficient manner. If you find yourself in a situation where you require emergency water damage services, we will work with you to tackle any and all concerns you might have. We excel at dealing with projects big and small, and we partner with insurers to streamline the restoration process. Additionally, Kelmann specializes in restoring valuables and precious items that might receive water damage. Regardless of the size of the project, we are confident that Kelmann can restore your home to its former condition.

What is Water Damage?

Water damage can come in a variety of forms that you may not expect. If you live in Milwaukee, Sheboygan or the surrounding cities, you should be aware of the following potential water damage risks:

  • Roof Leaks
  • Plumbing Leaks
  • Sump Pump Failure
  • Floods
  • Sewer Backup
  • Humidity
  • Mold growth

Many of these sources of water damage are ambient; however, many are the result of faulty pipes or drains. When pipes leak behind drywall, the water follows the path of least resistance. This usually means that water begins to pool and absorb into your home’s foundation or wall studs. Alternatively, water can pool between your roof and ceiling—this, ultimately, leads to mold spores and drywall damage. Regardless of the source of the damage, unchecked water damage can lead to the destruction of your home’s foundation. Given enough time, water damage can lead to expensive repairs. For this reason alone, being mindful of water leaks is incredibly important.

How Do I Prevent Water Damage?

Most causes of water damage are preventable. That said, water damage prevention starts with knowing what to expect and knowing where to look. There are several actions you can take to prevent water damage in your home or commercial property. For instance, activities such as monitoring humidity levels, looking for leaks, roof and gutter maintenance, and maintaining proper ventilation decrease the likelihood of your home sustaining water damage over time. Unfortunately, these processes can be difficult and time-consuming. When in doubt, it’s always a good idea to involve an expert. If you suspect that you’re overdue for an inspection, you can always reach out to our friendly staff. Our teams from our New Berlin, Wauwatosa, and Sheboygan locations are always at the ready. When called, they will assess your home for water damage and provide you with the necessary steps moving forward.

How Does Kelmann Provide Water Damage Restoration Services?

Basement flooded? Ice dams on the roof? Broken dishwasher line? Pipe burst? Sewage backup? If you find yourself in one of these unfortunate situations, keep calm and call Kelmann.

You may be wondering: If I have to call Kelmann, what will happen? Whenever we receive a call, we follow our field-tested protocol. Our water damage restoration process consists of three phases:

  • Phase One: Water Damage Mitigation (3-5 days)
    • Water Extraction
      • When we receive a call from a family in need, our first course of action is to remove the water. Our experts arrive on the scene and determine how severe your water damage problem really is. With every minute that passes, your home incurs more structural damage. Additionally, your valuables sustain more damage and run the risk of deteriorating beyond repair.
      • Our emergency services technicians respond quickly, and they can determine the best course of action. Typically, we begin by using industrial flood extractors to remove the bulk of the water from the flooded area.
      • We then set up temporary containment barriers using plastic sheets to isolate areas for focused drying. This ensures that we are focusing our efforts on the most affected areas.
    • Disinfection & Decontamination
      • Once we have removed the standing water from your home, we begin to sanitize the affected areas. Unfortunately, if a room such as a basement floods, standing water is the least of your worries.
      • Filthy water may seep into the baseboards, carpeting, and furniture. When this occurs, noxious mold may form. Additionally, if sewage water enters your home, it will bring with it bacteria and viruses that can cause serious health issues. Our technicians disinfect and decontaminate the entire room in an effort to kill mold growth before it starts.
    • Contents Removal
      • No one should have to suffer the loss of a family home. Luckily, Kelmann contains problems before they spread. But the same is true for irreplaceable items such as family photographs or other heirlooms. We know how important these items are to the families who turn to us for help.
      • Fortunately, Kelmann is a leader in the contents restoration industry. Per your guidance, our team will retrieve your most precious items. We will then catalog these items and send them to our contents restoration warehouse and cleaning facility in New Berlin. We are confident that we can restore your valuables to their former condition and erase all signs of water damage!
  • Phase Two: Monitoring (daily until complete)
    • Area Drying & Dehumidification
      • Once the area is free of standing water, and after everything has been sanitized, we move onto the dehumidification phase. This phase is especially important because water left hidden in drywall or porous surfaces can lead to mold. It can also expand and undo much of the work that has already been completed.
      • Kelmann technicians will use industrial dehumidifiers and networks of high-velocity fans and injectidrying networks to wick away the water. Depending on the severity of the water damage, we may have to remove drywall to assess the depth of the damage. Our team goes well beyond addressing surface-level concerns to ensure that every area affected by water damage is addressed systematically.
    • Project Monitoring
      • As you can tell from the section above, various pieces of industrial equipment are necessary for water damage restoration. While the humidifiers work their magic, our technicians arrive daily to monitor the moisture levels. They’ll also check on the equipment to ensure they’re appropriately calibrated and on the right track to remove all standing and ambient water.
      • These devices work together to ensure that your home is free from standing and ambient water. To optimize the progress, we make adjustments to the drying plan as needed to ensure it is as prompt and efficient as possible.
    • Equipment Removal (when ready)
      • Once our technicians have evaluated the area, we will conduct a final inspection. This inspection ensures that our team has removed all standing and ambient water sources.
      • Our team is careful and thorough—upon completion of our inspection, we guarantee that all traces of water damage have been addressed and mitigated. After that, our technicians will remove all industrial equipment. This sets the stage for the restoration team who will start rebuilding the affected area.
    • Contents restoration and return
      • This is perhaps our favorite portion of the entire job. Although we excel in restoring rooms and providing water damage repair, restoring your precious valuables is a distinct point of pride. Nothing compares to restoring a damaged family heirloom or a handed-down photo album.
      • These are the items that families hold most dear, and it is an honor to make sure these treasures return to you the way you remember them.
      • After we’ve completed the initial cleanup and have restored your valuables, we place them into labeled boxes categorized by room. At that point, our team will deliver the boxes to your home. Our team members place them in their respective rooms to ensure everything is in the right place.
  • Phase Three: Restoration (if approved by client & insurance company)
    • Observance of Resulting Damage
      • After our Kelmann technicians provide water damage restoration services—leaving your home clean, safe, and dry—we then survey the affected area. We will construct a catalog of changes and repairs that need to be made.
      • This list of repairs will serve as a blueprint for our team of insurers to audit. Additionally, this list will provide restoration professionals with a roadmap for how to restore the affected area.
      • Once we address the water damage, and once your home is ready for the next step, it’s time to move onto the insurance auditing process. At this point, Kelmann will provide a helping hand while you navigate your insurance claim. We do our best to be as involved as possible. You don’t have to go through this alone!
    • Scope & Timeline of Reconstruction Work
      • Finally, once our restoration crew has the green light to work, we determine the scope of the project. The severity of the initial damage and the scale of the affected area are the primary factors we take into consideration.
      • Once we have a sense of how large the project is, we will then create a timeline. This timeline will serve as a roadmap for us, but it will also provide you with an expectation of what the project will look like. At this point, we will work together to ensure that your home restoration is completed in the best way possible.
